DAY 7 & 8: University of Hawaii & Chaminade University
The RAS High Performance Study Tour’s last 2 stops included campus visits at both the University of Hawaii & Chaminade University of Honolulu, HI.
A big thanks to the UH foundation CEO Tim Dolan for a great understanding of their philanthropy & fundraising initiatives. It was great to hear from North Coast Academy of Sport alumni Brad Davidson & his men’s Basketball program. It was also nice to spend time with womens Beach Volleyball Head Coach Evan Silverstein & his 2 Australian scholarship athletes Jesse Mann & Sarah Burton – GO WARRIORS!
At Chaminade, the gang had a brilliant morning being hosted by Athletics Director, Tim Buning which including facility tours & time spent with Eric Bovaird, Basketball Head Coach – GO SWORDS!
Day 6: Golden State Warriors, San Francisco
Day 6 and the last day on the mainland of the US has the RAS gang visit University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
The group spent time with Director of Sports Performance Women’s Basketball, Nik Popovic & had a tour of their Strength & Conditioning facilities hearing all about their strategies in athlete performance and preparation.
The day also included a quick chat with Josh Heidegger, Director of Olympic Sports, providing a brief overview of their management resources that oversee the 500 athletes.
Keeping the young athlete healthy & building strong foundations is clearly paramount to their success. The sporting programs culture of success & high performance shining through – GO TROJANS!
Day 5: Golden State Warriors, San Francisco
The 5th stop of the RAS High Performance Study Tour was at Sacramento State University.
Today had a large focus on high performance coaching with time spent with soccer Head Coach Michael Linenberger & Basketball Head Coach David Patrick.
The group also spent time discussing strategic management of sports programs with Director of Athletics, Mark Orr & Senior Associate of Athletics Andy Fiske. The day included a tour of the facilities & time spent watching Basketball practice – GO HORNETS!
Day 4: Golden State Warriors, San Francisco
The RAS gangs second day hosted by Golden State Warriors, this time touring the Chase Centre & their new facilities. Thanks to Mutjaba Elgoodah, from the athlete recruitment team, for the personalised tour & a look into the inner sanctum.
The professional set up is custom built to provide an environment that can only produce high performance outcomes.
The tour of San Francisco concludes with a match day experience against the Dallas Mavericks – GO WARRIORS!
Day 3: Golden State Warriors, San Francisco
The RAS gang were given an exclusive tour of the Golden State Warriors exceptional Academy system & witnessed a training session with 70 international youth Basketballers from South America.
Great coaches, innovative technology & great high performance attitudes put this facility at the forefront of world wide pre-elite development.
A strong partnership will follow with this world class organisation, the young pathway athletes & coaches of NSW will be the beneficiaries – a big thanks to the Warriors.
Day 2: Saint Mary’s College, California
On Friday, the gang visited Saint Mary’s College continuing the strong affinity this school has with Australia. The Gaels have been a long term pathway nursery for Australian sportspeople with 28 athletes studying & playing at this campus including Matthew Dellavedova & Patty Mills.
Their leadership & strong culture shone through & accompanied with custom built facilities created for sustained success it wasn’t hard to see why we got to witness Coach Randy Bennett’s 500th win as coach.
Special mention to Alex Duncan, an Aussie, who lead all scorers on the night – GO GAELS!
Day 1: Berkeley University, California
5 RAS CEO’s are currently touring the US on the inaugural RAS High Performance Study Tour.
Day 1 saw the delegation hosted by Cal Athletics at Berkeley University sports departments meeting with their S&C & medical departments, college student placements & compliance teams & a walk through their amazing athlete facilities.
A big thankyou to the team at Cal Athletics for their willingness to share, their time & future assistance enabling a strong athlete pathway & better programming for Regional NSW athletes – GO BEARS!!!
